The Watches of Team Chrono24: Holger

The “Watches of Team Chrono24” series gives us the opportunity to share our watches, their corresponding stories, and our passion with you.

Holger, Co-CEO

What watch are you currently wearing?

An Omega Speedmaster “TinTin”.

Why this watch?

I’ve just started getting more deeply involved with watches in the last year or so. The Speedmaster is what drew me into this fascinating world. The history of the model is well known to every watch enthusiast and appealed to me as much as the design. I stumbled upon the “TinTin” on Fratello Watches one day and had to find out more. It’s exciting that Omega has dedicated a watch to the characters from the “TinTin” comic (Tim and Struppi) by showing them flying to the Moon in a red and white striped rocket. This watch definitely stands out from other Omega models!

What do you like most about this watch?

It was a mix of the history and design that motivated me to buy this watch. While its potential as an investment wasn’t the deciding factor for me, I’m optimistic and excited to see how things develop.

What have you experienced with this watch?

I haven’t been able to make a trip to the Moon yet, but I’ve also just recently acquired the watch. I did, however, get some attention from Croatian fans during the last World Cup due to its striking similarity to the Croatian flag.

What role does this watch play in your collection?

At the moment, the “TinTin” is the watch I want to wear the most from my Speedmaster collection. So far, my collection has focused on limited editions, and while the “TinTin” isn’t perhaps a true limited edition, its production was limited. That’s just another unique feature in addition to the striking design!

What fascinates you about watches in general?

The world of watches is not a superficial one: the design, technology, and history are such that you could get lost in them. I’m already realizing that I could spend many years immersed in this topic and still have more to learn.

What was your first watch?

The first watch that I can really remember was a Seiko SQ50.

What is your “grail” watch?

At the moment, it would be a vintage Speedmaster 2998.

Do you have a favorite brand?

I’m certainly taken with Omega! But I also like classic pieces from other brands; for example, I think the JLC Polaris Memovox and the Reverso are very attractive timepieces.

What watch would you like to buy next?

My wish list currently includes a vintage Speedmaster (pre-Moon watch). That will be my next object of desire once my Speedmaster Speedy Tuesday Ultraman is delivered.
