This timepiece from 1971 comes with its original Box. The condition and rarity of this watch make it a stunning piece of Rolex history.

This particular 1803 comes with an extremely rare combination of matte black dial with diamond hour markers and a striking diamond set bezel. The overall style of this vintage Rolex President is especially luxurious with the rare combination of the bark accent finishing.

English language calendar / weekday

The top of the lugs are decorated with the textured bark finish, and the bark accent is further carried through on the President’s bracelet, where the outer links flanking the polished centre link also feature this decorative finish.

Wearers of bark accented Rolex watches have remarked how great these type of bracelets look in the light. The intricate grooves on the bracelet certainly adds a very distinct touch to an iconic Rolex model.

Factory textures from Rolex are highly sought after by collectors for their rarity and display of the craftsmanship that Rolex Manufacture is capable of. As the name would imply, the 'bark' finish is designed to emulate the wood texture of a tree and extends from the presidential bracelet onto the bezel of the watch.

Ticking inside the reference 1803 is the caliber 1556 movement with a free-sprung Micro-Stella balance, and operates at 19,800 bph

This 1556 movement does not feature quickset for either the date or the day, meaning that they cannot be set independently from the time, and the hands must be advanced past midnight in order to change the calendar displays. It does include hacking seconds.

Plexiglass crystal. The 1803 was the last Rolex Day-Date model to feature a vintage acrylic crystal ; subsequently moving to Sapphire.

The watch is sized to an 18cm wrist and there are three spare links for the full size bracelet.

The Rolex President bracelet is a three-piece link metal bracelet with semi-circular links. This is the name that Rolex themselves give the bracelet. There are wide links in the centre and two thinner outer link rows.

However, the Rolex Day-Date earned the prestigious title of “President” by fans and enthusiasts due to its early association with influential US Presidents.

For those looking for a vintage Rolex President that’s a little different than the rest, the bark accent with diamonds is a solid option. A decorative element that was only used on a few models, the bark finishing is especially attractive to collectors that like collecting unusual vintage Rolex watches.
