Ulysse Nardin proudly unveils the Sonata, a unique and amazing multi-functional mechanical instrument. It is an in-house development, inspired by Dr. Ludwig Oechslin, constructed by Pierre Gygax and Lucas Humair, executed by the UN Dream Team conducted by Rolf Schnyder.

Watch legend, and Ulysse Nardin genius Ludwig Oechslin, spent seven years developing the caliber that powers the Sonata. This amazing automatic movement provides multiple complications for assisting global travelers. Time may be tracked locally, with one hour adjustments forward or back for traveling across timezones, hometime is indicated, there is an oversized date linked to the local time, a countdown timer which sounds a tone upon being achieved, and an alarm. Add to all this an alarm tone that is very clear and pleasing -- to my ears it comes close to a minute repeater's chiming. As if that weren't enough, the watch looks futuristic and uber-cool.

Case is 18k rose gold, 42mm diameter and the strap has an 18k rose gold deployment clasp. Sapphire crystal and sapphire exhibition case back. Dial is the rare and desirable Grey & Silver "Cotes de Geneve" Edition, with unusual hands that are very legible while also showing the complications below them. Two subdials on top show count-down timer (left) and alarm time. There is a Big Date display adjacent to 4 o'clock, 24 hour time subdial and the alarm on/off indicator. Flange of the case is also blue to match the dial. Movement is the automatic winding UN Caliber 66 with 109 jewels!

The in-house engineers and technicians of Ulysse Nardin spent nearly seven years on the development of this patented self-winding in-house caliber.

It combines the novel Alarm setting with a Countdown indicator and the Dual time system with the instant time zone adjuster conceived by Dr. Oechslin and featured in many Ulysse Nardin watches.

This patented Dual time function permits time zone adjustments forward and backward by simply pressing the pushers plus (+) or minus (-) to change the position of the hour hand. The original home time (reference time) stays displayed while the date, the Alarm and Countdown adjust automatically when a time zone adjustment is made.

The melodic chiming of the Alarm is based on a novel 24 hours mechanism which allows setting the Alarm 23 hours ahead, for 7.35 pm the same day or 7.35 am the next day. The case is individually numbered and water-resistant to 30 meters.

The "Sonata Cathedral Dual Time" watch is an amazing creation with a mechanical alarm that has a crisp & beautiful chime/ring.

This watch features:

A dial spectacularly finished with a partial silvered linear "Cotes de Geneve" design.
Large Skeleton Hands for Hours & Minutes which allows for a clear & unobstructed view of the dial.
GMT/Dual Time Zone hour hand Subdial at 6 o'clock. Buttons on either side of the case adjust the time-zone by one hour increments either way.
Alarm time indicator located at the 2 o'clock position. Subdial at 10 o'clock indicates a countdown to when the alarm will chime the next time - the alarm will chime once in 24 hours. On/Off indicator at the 9 o'clock position - controlled by the button in center of the left crown.
